How to Order and Activate a Physical Slash Card

Overview
Slash offers physical Visa charge cards that offer the same capabilities as virtual cards: you can link them to specific subaccounts, set custom spending limits and controls, and track every transaction from your dashboard. This guide walks you through ordering a physical card, tracking its delivery, and activating it once it arrives.
How to Order a Physical Card
Step 1: Navigate to Cards
From your Slash homepage, navigate to Cards in the left sidebar.

Step 2: Initiate the Order
Click Add in the upper right corner. Select Order Physical Card from the dropdown to open the order form.

Step 3: Enter Cardholder Information
Add the name of the team member who will use the card. This name appears on the front of the card and on statements, so be sure to enter the cardholder’s legal name. Then, click Continue.

Step 4: Configure Card Details
On the next panel, set up the card as you would any other Slash card. You can configure:
- Card nickname
- Virtual account to fund the card
- Card group
- Cardholder: This links the card to a user in Slash. It may differ from the legal name shown on the card
- Limits: Transaction size, utilization, merchant categories, MCCs, specific merchants, and approved countries

Step 5: Input shipping details
Unlike other Slash card creation forms, you'll see some additional lines at the Step 6: Confirm and SubmitAt the bottom of the form, enter your shipping address and select a shipping method. Make sure the address and delivery timeline work for you. Slash cannot recover cards that are lost or unclaimed in transit. There are two available shipping options
- Standard shipping: 7 to 10 business days, free
- Express shipping: 2 to 3 business days, fee may apply (FedEx)
Step 6: Confirm and Submit Your Order
Review your order details and click Order Card to submit. You'll receive a confirmation email with your order details.

Tracking Your Card
After your order is submitted, you can see some details about the estimated delivery time and card status in the card's info panel. Statuses include:
- In delivery: Slash will give you an estimated delivery date for the card, depending on the shipping method you chose
- Delivered: Updates when your card arrives to the shipping address
- Delivery cancelled: If the shipping provider cancels the order.
- Activated: Updates as soon as you active your new card.
How to Activate Your Physical Card
Step 1: Open the Card in Your Dashboard
From the Cards page, find your new physical card — it will show a "Needs activation" status. Click on the card to open its details, where you'll see a blurred card preview with a "Click to activate card" prompt.
Step 2: Enter the Last 4 Digits
Enter the last 4 digits of the card number printed on your physical card. This confirms you have the card in hand. Click Activate to complete activation.
Step 3: Change Your PIN
Your card's PIN is set to 0000 by default. Before using your card for in-person transactions that require a PIN, go to your card's actions menu and select "Change PIN" to set a new 4-digit PIN. If you're activating from the Slash mobile app, you'll be prompted to set your PIN automatically as part of the activation flow.
Step 4: Start Using Your Card
Once activated and your PIN is set, your physical card is ready to use!
Additional Information
- Ordering multiple physical cards: Unlike virtual cards, which give you the option to spin up several cards at once, each physical card you request will need to be ordered individually.
- Replacement cards: If your card is lost, stolen, or damaged, you can order a replacement from the card details page. The old card will be automatically deactivated
- International use: Physical Slash Cards work internationally wherever Visa is accepted. Foreign transaction fees may apply (1% FX fee, minimum $0.40).

If your card hasn't arrived within the expected timeframe, check the tracking status on your dashboard first. If tracking shows delivered but you haven't received it, contact Slash support and we can issue a replacement.
