When you send or receive cryptocurrency through Slash, your transfer is recorded on a public blockchain. A block explorer is a free online tool that lets you look up and verify the status of any blockchain transaction. This article explains how to use a block explorer to track your crypto transfers.

What Is a Block Explorer?

A block explorer is a website that indexes blockchain data and makes it searchable. Think of it like a search engine for the blockchain. You can use it to verify that a transfer was sent, confirm when it arrived, and see the current number of network confirmations.

Each blockchain network has its own explorers. Here are the most common ones for networks supported by Slash:

Ethereum: etherscan.io
Solana: solscan.io
Tron: tronscan.org
Base: basescan.org
Polygon: polygonscan.com
Stellar: stellarchain.io
Arbitrum: arbiscan.io
Optimism: optimistic.etherscan.io
Avalanche: snowtrace.io

Accessing the Block Explorer from Slash

Slash includes a built-in block explorer link directly in your transaction details. When you open any crypto transaction from the dashboard, the detail panel shows:

Tx Hash: A copyable field displaying your transaction hash. Long hashes are truncated for readability, but you can copy the full value with one tap.
Block Explorer: A direct link that automatically opens the correct explorer for the blockchain network your transaction used.

Simply click the Block Explorer link in the transaction details to go straight to your transaction on the appropriate explorer — no need to manually look up which explorer to use or copy and paste your transaction hash.

If you'd prefer to look up a transaction manually or want to understand what you're seeing on a block explorer, follow the steps below.

How to Track a Crypto Transfer

Step 1: Find Your Transaction Hash

In Slash, navigate to your transaction history and locate the crypto transfer you want to track. Click on the transaction to open its details. Copy the Transaction Hash (also called a TXID). This is a long string of letters and numbers that uniquely identifies your transaction on the blockchain.

Step 2: Open the Appropriate Block Explorer

Go to the block explorer for the network your transfer used. For example, if you sent USDC on Ethereum, use Etherscan. If you sent USDT on Tron, use Tronscan.

Step 3: Search for Your Transaction

Paste your transaction hash into the search bar and press Enter. The explorer will display the full details of your transaction.

Step 4: Review the Transaction Details

The transaction page shows key information including:

Status: Success, Pending, or Failed
Block: The block number where your transaction was recorded
Timestamp: When the transaction was confirmed
From: The sender's wallet address
To: The recipient's wallet address
Value: The amount transferred
Confirmations: How many blocks have been added since your transaction (more confirmations = more secure)

Understanding Transaction Status

When checking your transaction, you may see different statuses:

Success: Your transfer completed and was confirmed on the blockchain. The funds have been sent to the destination address.
Pending: Your transaction has been submitted to the network but hasn't been confirmed yet. This is normal and typically resolves within a few minutes, though network congestion can cause delays.
Failed: The transaction was rejected by the network. This can happen due to insufficient gas fees, smart contract errors, or network issues. Failed transactions do not transfer funds.

What If My Transaction Isn't Showing?

If you can't find your transaction on a block explorer, there are a few possible reasons:

The transaction is still processing. Some transactions take time to appear, especially during high network activity. Wait a few minutes and try again.
Wrong network selected. Make sure you're using the block explorer for the correct blockchain network.
Incorrect transaction hash. Double-check that you copied the full transaction hash without any extra spaces.

If the transaction still doesn't appear after 30 minutes and your Slash dashboard shows it as completed, contact Slash support for assistance.
